A passkey lets you sign in with your device's Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a physical security key — no password to type or remember. It's available on every plan.
Adding a passkey
- Go to Profile and find the Passkeys card.
- Click Add a passkey and give it a name (e.g. "MacBook Touch ID" or "YubiKey") so you can tell your passkeys apart later.
- Follow your browser's prompt to confirm with your device.
You can add more than one — for a laptop, a phone, and a security key, for example — and remove any of them later from the same page.
Signing in with it
On the sign-in page, click Sign in with a passkey instead of entering your email and password, then follow the prompt on your device.
A few things worth knowing
- A passkey is tied to your device (or synced through your browser/OS's own passkey syncing, like iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager) — it isn't something you can type in or share.
- If you have two-factor authentication enabled, signing in with a passkey doesn't ask for your authenticator code separately — a passkey is already a strong, device-verified second factor on its own.
- Adding or removing a passkey requires re-entering your password first, even if you normally sign in with a passkey — this keeps someone from adding their own passkey to your account if they find your computer unlocked.
- Passkeys require a modern browser (recent Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox). If yours doesn't support them, the passkey options are hidden automatically and you can keep using your password.
