Setting up retargeting pixels

Retargeting pixels let you build an ad audience from everyone who's clicked your links — not just the smaller group who actually bought — so you can bring the rest of them back with ads later.

Setting it up

  1. Go to Retargeting Pixels in your account menu.
  2. Paste your Meta Pixel ID (found in Meta Events Manager → Data Sources → your pixel) and/or your Google Ads ID (found in Google Ads → Tools → Conversions, formatted like AW-1234567890).
  3. Save. Every click on your Smart Links now fires whichever pixels you've saved automatically — nothing to add per link.

Leave a field blank to stop firing that platform's pixel; you don't have to configure both.

How it fires without slowing your links down

Links that don't need a page anyway (most of them) redirect instantly, exactly as before. Only when you have a pixel configured does the visitor pass through a brief (a fraction of a second) redirect page first, just long enough for the pixel to fire, before continuing on to your destination — a Choice Page fires the pixel on the page it already shows, with no extra step at all.

Retargeting pixels are available on Pro and up (see plan comparison). If you downgrade, your saved pixel IDs aren't deleted, but stop firing until you upgrade again.
